I have the "Tom Tight" frames but these are original Cineon, not DPX. They seem to be linear rather than log format. At least they look the same in CinePaint and GraphicsMagick. The Kodak DLAD test image is also Cineon rather than DPX and is also linear rather than log scaled. If you can obtain the frames for "Finding Nemo" or "Star Wars", that would be great. :-) >> DPX log formats are not supported yet and only linear RGB and grayscale >> are supported. > > DPX 10-bit color log is what's typically used. Right. Supporting log format should as simple as inserting translation tables based on the Kodak documentation. At the moment, the DPX encoder chooses an output which is most "suitable" based on the depth of the input image. So if the input image was 8 bit, then the output DPX would be 8 bit. There are specific options for controlling the depth and packing format. It may be that outputting 10-bit by default is best in order to enhance interoperability. Or maybe there should be a specific option for this in order to ensure that all the parameters are ideal.
