I have popped out some new Windows install snapshot today. They are available from "ftp://ftp.graphicsmagick.org/pub/GraphicsMagick/snapshots/". In the past month or so I have been working on SMTPE DPX format support, which is an obscure file format used in movie and TV production. Each film frame is a single file. As such, there are millions of these huge files existing since a film uses 24 12MB (or larger) files per second and the files are usually uncompressed. DPX is unusual since it supports deep images and supports depths of 1, 8, 10, 12, and 16 bits per sample (and floating point, but this is not supported yet). There is a logarithmic encoding available to support extended dynamic range (not true HDR which is capable of encoding the brightness of the sun) with density of up to 2.048 (by default). The log encoding is capable of capturing the dynamic range of film. The snapshots also support another options for converting RGB to grayscale. I suspect that neither one does the conversion to grayscale the way it is supposed to be (will work on that).
