ImagePattern Studio?

Could it be that there is a previously unnannounced dark-horse in the
race to be the better Magick? I notice that the file coders/pattern.c
showed up in ImageMagick CVS yesterday. This file is the same as
GraphicsMagick's coders/logo.c (which was totally re-written by myself
just this past weekend) except that the GraphicsMagick copyright
statement and attribution has been removed, and a copyright statement
for "ImagePattern Studio" has been added. The design is claimed to be
by John Cristy in July 1992. This is really weird. Does anyone
understand what is going on?
