It seems that once again GraphicsMagick is back in the running for processing movie images. The guy at LaserPacific found that a local configuration issue caused GraphicsMagick's rungm.sh script to take 6 seconds to start so image resize was taking 8 seconds. Now that the problem is resolved, image resize takes 2 seconds so GraphicsMagick is looking good again. He is speaking to me again ... This site handles important movies like Terminator 2 so it would be way cool if GraphicsMagick was to be used to do some of the processing for major feature films. I get the impression that they want to scan film images at 4K horizontal resolution with 16-bit accuracy and scale them down to more typical 2K images for further processing. That way they don't lose the original quality of the fancy film scanner they bought.
