Cristy,

The approach you have chosen in ImageMagick to document the modules
which are copyrighted by the GraphicsMagick Group requires that each
effected area or module be listed or it must be assumed by the reader
to not be copyrighted by the GraphicsMagick Group. The module
"pattern.c" which appeared in ImageMagick-5.5.7-1 is clearly the work
of GraphicsMagick Group. Likewise the formats.html documentation
(including images/patterns) is clearly the work of GraphicsMagick
Group. The authorship and all copyright statements were stripped from
logo.c when it was used to create pattern.c. The header of logo.c
contains:

/*
% Copyright (C) 2003 GraphicsMagick Group
% Parts Copyright (c) 1985-1988 by Supoj Sutanthavibul
% Parts Copyright (c) 1989-2000 by Brian V. Smith

There are a number of other areas which are not listed in
ImageMagick's Copyright.txt, but were copied from GraphicsMagick. A
number of ImageMagick web pages are GraphicsMagick pages which have
been imported and adapted to the ImageMagick web page style. These
pages are not listed in Copyright.txt. The page at
http://www.imagemagick.org/www/objectives.html is an excellent example
of this since it is an import of the GraphicsMagick mission statement.

Since you have chosen to itemize files which are copyright
GraphicsMagick Group, please ensure that the itemized list is correct
and kept up to date. Also, please preserve and respect any relevant
copyrights for code obtained from other software packages. It is very
tiring for me to have to monitor ImageMagick for undocumented imports
of GraphicsMagick code and files. It would be much easier if you
would take care of this yourself since certainly you are aware of when
a file or substantial code is copied.

On another issue, I notice that yesterday you posted to the
magick-developers list that GraphicsMagick had "removed your
authorship from the code". This is not true. In fact, your name does
not even appear in the ImageMagick package as the author
(ImageMagick's README.txt says "The author is
[email protected]."). It only appears in file headers
(this information has been fully preserved) and in the ChangeLog file.

Thanks,

Bob
