I have re-run the per-thread OpenMP benchmarks for the many GraphicsMagick algorithms on a number of different systems and have updated the test report at "http://www.graphicsmagick.org/OpenMP.html". This testing reflects the code which will be the 1.3.1 release. Performance is very good, with speedup peaking to 2.15 on a two core system, 2.85 on a two core hyperthreaded system, and 3.93 on a four core system. OpenMP scheduling parameters have been adjusted to favor repeatable best performance with varying system load rather than absolute peak performance. We think that this is important for server environments. We also found a JPEG encoding parameter which was set for best possible quality at the (sometimes) expense of performance. This resulted in GM writing JPEG files slower than ImageMagick on 'x86 hardware. For GM 1.3.1, the libjpeg default is used by default but it will be possible for the user to specify the desired DCT encoding algorithm to use.
