I expect that setting the Image 'matte' attribute to 'true' will help.

The final output png32-test.png is a PNG 24 bit and I don't see alpha
channel on it?
This seems like a small bug. Unfortunately, in order to add the
missing matte channel, it would be necessary to modify the image being
saved. That means your Image is no longer the same as when you saved
it. This does happen in other cases too, but it is best avoided.
