I don't know what that libperl.a is.  On my system I built perl from 
scratch and libperl is installed at

/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i86pc-solaris-64int/CORE/libperl.a

A formal Linux install is likely under /usr/lib/perl5 ...

It looks like it is there by default in the SPEC file.
