Building DLLs

I have a Windows application written in Clarion that is successfully using a subset of the ImageMagick C API with the version 5.5.5 standard binaries. I want to switch to GraphicsMagick 1.0.3. At the same time, I want to create a minimum-dependency set of DLLs that I can supply with the application, so that end users are not required to make a full GM install. IOW, I want to build a DLL or set of DLLs that contain only the GraphicsMagick C API and delegates (no C++, no X-Windows, no Java, no Perl etc.). I am a total newbie to GNU. (I can comprehend C at some primitive level, but have never used it) I have installed GraphicsMagick-1.0.3.zip (which purports to be just the core sources), and MinGW and MSYS. I have skimmed the MSYS and MinGW docs, and think everything is installed ok. I have added a mount statement to fstab to locate the GM folder. The MSYS console launches OK, but I am pretty unsure what to do next. I don't even know what the console command is to build GM as distributed. I'd like to start with that, just as a sanity check. I have sort of pieced out that the files of interest for selective builds are likely to be: Makefile.am Configure Can somebody give me a shove in the right direction?
