I am not sure given that as you discovered “-compose Distort” is not 
supported.

With increased volunteer contributions/activity GM could support such 
features.

Given the diminishment of volunteer activity after the past few years, 
my available time has mostly been consumed with basic maintenance and 
bug fixing rather than working on feature additions.
