This has been on my wish list for years. Please share if you make any 
progress! By coincidence I was just learning asciio, and thinking about 
the missing piece.

  Graph Vizualiztion   graphviz     ?

  Diagrams             ditaa        asciio

(The above was made with asciio, and will only make sense if you have a 
monospace font, which of course is how you are viewing emails unless you 
are evil.) 

It's hard when the two of the greatest things in the world, graphviz and 
plain text, don't reconcile entirely.
