[graphviz-interest] How can one control the appearance of a loop edge?

See the attached dot file. The png shows how it looks when I render it.

self-loop A is small (and cramped)

self-loop B is large.

However, self-loop B was created using a dubious and unstable dot
construction.

The line with xs on it is there to get the unstable construction to render
as desired.

Is there a sane and stable way to control the size of a loop edge? I've
tried len and
minlen but they seem to have no effect.

Thanks very much,

David
