Hi Hermann Thanx. These things are definitely possible, but the question is: How automated can this be made? Thinking about the cladogram, I've realized I will have to draw it on a virtual image, to allow negative co-ords. This is because there's no easy way of walking the tree and determining how wide it will spread. And this in turn is because any internal node could have any number of descendants all off to one side, like a giant list of cascading 'L' chars. After that initial plot, I (if I write this!) will simply scale all co-ords so the minimum is 0, or some small number, to push the image away from the frame. -- Ron Savage - savage.net.au _______________________________________________ [email protected] http://lists.research.att.com/mailman/listinfo/graphviz-interest
