When the outer edges (as in rim) of the graph drawing area could be
defined/represented as a vertex then ...

... any other vertices that share an edge (as in graph) with this 'rim vertex'
can connect to it at any point around the rim.

My question is regarding structuring the graph drawing. The term 'edges' is in
this context a bit ambiguous... my bad.
