[06:51] <nicknack> Can anyone give me some pointers on getting docs to build in 0.7.x, I have checked the packages in DOCBUILDING and done a bit of Googling, but I still crash out my build with element undefined errors trying to process faq.xml (ironically)
[06:53] <ds> I'd suggest using --disable-docs-build
[06:53] <ds> but feel free to file a bug with the failed build log
[06:55] <taaz> nicknack: that's what thomasvs was complaining about earlier as well
[06:55] <taaz> my docs fail to build in the pwg
[06:59] <nicknack> Yeah it is a bit of a wierd one, it also trys to connect to www.oasis-open.org but times out, I have not blocked it with firewall rules or anything eiter
[07:12] jcsston ([email protected]) left irc: Read error: 110 (Connection timed out)
[07:22] <taaz> you need to setup xml catalog rules so it uses local dtds
[07:33] <nicknack> Any pointer on how to do that?

[09:01] <bitshifter> hmm, it would be great if someone with up-to-date CVS HEAD could try the small program at http://scentric.net/tmp/import.tar.gz for me
[09:02] <bitshifter> the same code worked fine with cvs 2 days ago, and after I updated it crashes all over the place :-/
[09:04] <walters> you did run gst-register-0.7?
[09:04] <bitshifter> yes
[09:04] <walters> also does your program use gconf?
[09:04] <bitshifter> nope
[09:05] <bitshifter> I also did 'make clean' in gstreamer and gst-plugins before compiling
[09:06] <bitshifter> http://scentric.net/tmp/out1 and http://scentric.net/tmp/out2 has some valgrind output
[09:07] <bitshifter> I'd just file it as bug report, but I'm a bit puzzled because I can't see anything in the ChangeLog that looks like it is related to what valgrind says

[18:57] <sxpert> BBB: hi there
[18:58] <BBB> hello
[18:58] <sxpert> BBB: I wanted to post a bug against gstreamer-volume-control, but I couldn't find it
[18:58] <BBB> it's gnome-volume-control
[18:58] <BBB> gstreamer-volume-control doesn't exist
[18:58] <sxpert> BBB: I have fedora core 2 on my box at work, and found out that the window is not sized properly
[18:58] Action: BBB checks for unapplied patches
[18:59] <sxpert> yeah, it says gstreamer in the title window
[18:59] <KoRnouille> any idea why cvs wouldn't work ?
[18:59] <sxpert> EWORKSFORME
[19:00] <BBB> sxpert: how large is the window you get?
[19:01] <BBB> it should be either the full size (if less than 15 tracks) or 600 pixels (if more than 15 tracks)
[19:01] <KoRnouille> why do I get an anonymous error then ?
[19:01] <sxpert> full height, but only shows one and a half channel
[19:01] <BBB> that method sucks, but I didn't find a good way to size it yet
[19:01] <BBB> one-and-a-half?!?
[19:01] <sxpert> instead of the 10 or so channels my card supports
[19:01] <BBB> are you *sure* you're running latest CVS of gnome-media?
[19:01] <sxpert> BBB: one slider and a half or so
[19:01] <sxpert> BBB: the one in fedora core 2
[19:02] <BBB> because I checked this in quite a while ago
[19:02] <BBB> update to latest CVS
[19:02] <BBB> the one in FC1 might be old
[19:02] <BBB> we used to have that bug
[19:02] <BBB> but I committed this change a few weeks ago
[19:02] <sxpert> BBB: the FC2 one is old then :(
[19:02] <BBB> yes
[19:02] <sxpert> gah... stale stuff sucks
[19:02] <BBB> btw, FC2 includes gnome-2.6 alphas?
[19:02] <BBB> why why why why why?!?
[19:03] <sxpert> BBB: what do I know ?
[19:03] <sxpert> yeha,
[19:03] <sxpert> yep, it seems so
[19:03] <BBB> is it FC2?
[19:03] <BBB> or a FC2 test release?
[19:03] <sxpert> fc2 rawhide
[19:03] <BBB> file a bug against fedora itself to update their gnome-media version to something where the mixer is fixed
[19:03] <BBB> :)
[19:04] Action: KoRnouille need help for downloading cvs
[19:04] <BBB> :?
[19:04] <KoRnouille> I get anonymous: no such user
[19:04] <sxpert> BBB: oki
[19:04] <KoRnouille> when trying cvs -d :pserver:[email protected]:/cvs/gstreamer -z3 co gst-ffmpeg
[19:04] <bilboed> KoRnouille: it's anoncvs I think
[19:04] <sxpert> then it's anoncvs ;D
[19:05] <BBB> it's anoncvs
[19:05] <BBB> isn't this mentioned somewhere on the website?
[19:06] <KoRnouille> thanks bilboed, it works now.
[19:08] <sxpert> BBB: bug posted as 117112
[19:11] <KoRnouille> hey, current cvs of gstreamer is 0.7.5 ?

[19:16] <BBB> KoRnouille: yes, we just released 0.7.5, remember?
[19:16] <sxpert> BBB: it's the redhat bugzilla
[19:16] <sxpert> http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=117112
[19:17] <KoRnouille> do I have to install ff-mpeg before or after the plugz ?
[19:17] <bilboed> KoRnouille: it'll download it on cvs during ./autogen.sh
[19:18] <bilboed> or ./configure, can't remember exactly
[19:18] <KoRnouille> aaah ok
[19:19] <KoRnouille> huh... then I don't need to download co gst-ffmpeg cvs ?

[19:20] <BBB> but not ffmpeg
[19:20] <BBB> only gst-ffmpeg

[19:20] <BBB> both will work

[19:34] <BBB> ah, what a surprise
[19:34] Action: BBB kicks those fucks that ever suggested to move to mplayer CVS
[19:34] <alley_cat> ffmpeg cvs is working fine here, i just updated
[19:34] <BBB> "yes, we're so stable, yes, we hndle millions of mplayer downloads a day and transfer billions of gigabytes per day, we are so 37331"
[19:35] <BBB> (one of their developers actually said that...)
[19:35] <alley_cat> well, it's still a lot better than sourceforge ever was ;-)
[19:35] <BBB> on a scale of percentages, it's only 0.1 better... ;)
[19:35] <BBB> and going from 0.5 to 0.6 doesn't help if FDO gives us +/-99
[19:35] <KoRnouille> so what am I supposed to do there ?
[19:35] <KoRnouille> :/
[19:35] <BBB> KoRnouille: try again... :(
[19:36] Action: KoRnouille redownloads from cvs...
[19:36] Action: BBB is thinking about putting tarballs of our current ffmpeg snapshot in CVS
[19:36] <BBB> or for download on our website
[19:37] <KoRnouille> it will work ?
[19:37] <KoRnouille> (people told me that every module from cvs must run with other plugins / gstreamer from cvs)
[19:39] <BBB> I don't know...

[19:54] <KoRnouille> a video.
[19:54] <KoRnouille> an mpeg
[19:54] <KoRnouille> it was something like mpeg2 dec ! x-raw 1280:960 ! bla...
[19:55] <thomasvs> that's not running fullscreen :) that's setting the size to match your screen res
[19:56] <alley_cat> hmm, GST_ELEMENT_ERROR causing a segfault
[19:56] <alley_cat> interesting
[19:56] <thomasvs> something like videoscale ! x-raw-video,width=1024,height=768
[19:56] <thomasvs> alley_cat: more info
[19:56] <KoRnouille> thanks thomasvs
[19:56] <KoRnouille> i'll try it out
[19:56] <alley_cat> gst-launch-0.7 filesrc location=Salope.avi ! avidemux name=demux ! { queue ! ffdec_msmpeg4 ! xvimagesink } { demux. ! queue ! mad ! audioscale ! audio/x-raw-int,rate=48000 ! alsasink device=dsp1 }
[19:57] <alley_cat> that pipeline segfaulted in gst_pad_pull on a GST_ELEMENT_ERROR
[19:58] <alley_cat> got the backtrace, will file a bug about it
[19:59] <thomasvs> alley_cat: interesting, want to see
[19:59] <iain> http://sinfest.net/comics/sf20040228.gif
[19:59] <KoRnouille> alley_cat: "location=Salope.avi" lol
[20:00] <KoRnouille> thomasvs: how would you call x-raw-video ? an element ?
[20:02] <KoRnouille> thomasvs: if I do (in python) : self.v_size = gstreamer.Element("x-raw-video", "v_size")
[20:02] <KoRnouille> would it work ?
[20:02] <thomasvs> KoRnouille: nope, it's a filtered link
[20:02] <thomasvs> so you use link_filtered using those caps
[20:03] <KoRnouille> thomasvs: okay. By the way, the syntax doesn't seem to fit. I get an erroneous pipeline : no element "x-rax-video"
[20:03] <alley_cat> thomasvs: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135705
[20:04] <thomasvs> KoRnouille: it's not an element, I just told you :)
[20:04] <KoRnouille> I know.
[20:04] <KoRnouille> but I though the cmd line would find out ?
[20:04] <KoRnouille> (not in python)
[20:05] <KoRnouille> 1st, I try things in syntax, then, I adapt in python
[20:06] <thomasvs> alley_cat: I don't see GST_ELEMENT_ERROR in that bt ?
[20:06] <thomasvs> alley_cat: in fact, seems like a simple assert in the plugin code
[20:08] <KoRnouille> that's my syntax : {queue ! mpeg2dec ! ffcolorspace ! videoscale ! x-raw-video,width=1024,height=768 ! xvimagesink }
[20:09] <alley_cat> thomasvs: that line in gst_pad_pull (gstpad.c) is a GST_ELEMENT_ERROR
[20:09] <alley_cat> the weird thing with all my problems is that they aren't reliably reproducable
[20:10] <thomasvs> alley_cat: which one where ?
[20:10] <alley_cat> running the same pipeline again just makes it hang
[20:10] <alley_cat> #8 0x4004fbdd in gst_pad_pull (pad=0x80dc5fc) at gstpad.c:3078
[20:10] <thomasvs> alley_cat: the real problem is in the plugin. an assert causes a segfault, that's how it works.
[20:10] <thomasvs> the assert is more reliable than the rest.
[20:14] <KoRnouille> so what's wrong in my syntax ? why would I have this error message ? (no element "x-raw-video")
[20:14] <thomasvs> KoRnouille: try video/x-raw instead
[20:14] <KoRnouille> okay... trying...
[20:16] <KoRnouille> doesn't work. the pipeline runs this time with no error, I get a message "going to init debug".
[20:20] <KoRnouille> then nothing
[20:28] <KoRnouille> huuh...
[20:28] <KoRnouille> gcc `pkg-config --cflags --libs gstreamer-0.7 gnome-desktop-2.0` -o live_client live_client_07.c
[20:29] <KoRnouille> /tmp/cciYR49A.o(.text+0x24): In function `videowindow_realized':

[20:29] <KoRnouille> : undefined reference to `gst_x_overlay_set_xwindow_id'
[20:29] <KoRnouille> what am I missing ?
[20:31] <thomasvs> KoRnouille: interfaces
[20:32] <KoRnouille> (syntax ?) :/
[20:33] <alley_cat> *sigh* i think my machine is not meant to run gstreamer
[20:33] <KoRnouille> thomasvs: pkg-config --list-all doesn't show anything about interface
[20:37] <KoRnouille> okay, got it : gcc `pkg-config --cflags --libs gstreamer-0.7 gnome-desktop-2.0 gstreamer-interfaces-0.7` -o live_client live_client_07.c
[20:45] <teuf> does anyone have any clue about how to locate available oss mixers/dsps ?
[20:49] <alley_cat> i give up, i'm not prepared to understand a never returning malloc call ...
