gstreamer / glib config problem

Hi,

I have an issue building gstreamer-0.10.15 . Configure fails with the
following messsage:
Checking for GLIB... configure: error: This package requires GLib >=
2.8 to compile

I have installed glib-2.12.13 on my system : libraries are at
/usr/local/lib/libg*. There are also directories with include files
/usr/local/lib/glib-2.0/ and /usr/local/include/glib-2.0. I have tried
using the GLIB_LIBS and GLIB_ONLY_LIBS environment variables to point
to these directories but it didn't help.  Any ideas are appreciated.
