how to install gstreamer

Hi, I confronted some problem while installing gstreamer.
I use python 2.4, I will to install gstreamer 0.10. I have tried to install
both gstreamer-0.10.17 and gst-python24-0.10.10
which I download from this site:http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/.
But it seems that it is not successfully installed.
