Hi there!,
I will be very glad if Gopal or someone else enters the projects and collaborates. In
the last months the project has not been active at all. As Char said, most of use are very
busy with out works to attend the project. I know from the H.264/AVC expert group
mailing list that people as Skal are at least reading the standard or looking at the reference
software in detail.
Much of us are also working commercially in video coding or H.264/AVC related
projects, so is even more difficult/problematic to contribute to the project. In the last
months i have rewrite completely the openhdot264 codec. The problem is that this code
was developed during a H.264/AVC related project in the company i work to. It has
some nice new features and the company is not willing to release them to the public
domain.
I entered this project because i wanted (and i still want) to learn much more about
H.264/AVC, and i still strongly believe that the best way for this is working in a open
source project. I'm sad of not being able to release my contributions or even collaborate,
but that's how things are now.
I would be too very glad to hear the opinions of the people about the future of this
project, specially of those working commercially on related projects...
/AITOR
