So this is not a problem. Image processing has too many highly varied operators to even try adding short flags for things. That is left for more specialized wrapping programs and scripts, and a short option can make more sense. Not all operators even use '-' for example there is of "-read" operator for the command line, you just give the image filename directly as the "-read" operation.
