Find attached duc.sequere's answer to my (initial) question from 14th of November this year. AFAIK there is no other way to tell IM where GS resides. I would also guess that the described problems either stems from the Windows version (I had problems with Windows 2000 server) or from the PDF itself. There is a whole lot of PDFs around that don't conform to the specification.
