libdv1394, Senior Design Project

Hey guys, I'm trying to write a program for my senior design project that captures video from a camera that is plugged in (like dvgrab) but sends the data to GPU memory. I will need to take the stream and convert them into individual frames.

Any suggestions on where to start? I think that libdc1394 won't work, and I couldn't really find libdv1394... It's also been said that libdv1394 is obsolete since libiec61883.

If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
