We need to send that output into a part dvgrab always supplies a stream beginning at a frame, and a frame is always 120000 bytes if NTSC and 144000 if PAL. > of the program that processes each frame individually... You can decode using either FFmpeg or libdv. If you just need video and not audio, you can pipe dvgrab to ffmpeg and have ffmpeg output yuv4mpeg to stdout and then your app can process yuv4mpeg. The source of /ffmpeg/libavformat/yuv4mpeg.c and viewing the output in 'hexdump -C' will help you understand the simple yuv4mpeg format. If you need RGB, then just search for yuv2rgb code. > Thanks! > Howard > > Stefan Richter wrote: >> Howard Huang wrote: >> >>> I'm trying to write a program for my senior design project that >>> captures video from a camera that is plugged in (like dvgrab) but >>> sends the data to GPU memory. >>> >> [...] >> >>> Any suggestions on where to start? >>> >> >> dvgrab, test-dv, and test-mpeg2 can write to stdout which you can pipe >> to stdin of a video player like xine.
