Yes, the oops indicate a bad firewire communication. Since you tried
different computers with different versions of Linux and Kino software
then I believe the problem is with your camera, the recording, or the
cable. The first and easiest thing to try is a different cable. Even
if it used to work in Windows software does not mean it still does. Of
course, if you can still boot into Windows and have software to
capture, you can make a quick test. Also, make sure you are not
testing with the same recording over and over again. It can also be
that the heads on the camera need cleaning. You should not clean
regularly, but every few years it may be required - really depends on
how much you use it and whether you use one or differing (better)
brands of tape.
Beyond all of that, I can not help you further. I have worked on this
software for nearly a decade, and it works reliably for me across the
number of computers and camera with which I have used it over these
years. It seems to work well for a lot of others as well based on
feedback and reviews. Good luck.
