easy to make errors that only seem silly when you describe them but are infact UI issues with that page: be sure you enter a filename in the long text edit box above the options and be aware that while Kino may have been working in one dir, the default save location may be a completely different place, like your home dir. It also may not report back directly if the mecoder software is not installed although it may appear in the command console or in ~/.xsession-errors the trouble with computer interfaces is that we humans are so clever: while it can often be something that you must be told about to notice, once you are told and do it once, you learn so fast there is never any further need to 'fix' it so UI tends to slide way down the priority list in favour of actual features and facilities ;) On Fri, Feb 26, 2010 at 11:20 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > On 02/26/2010 11:14 AM, Gary Lawrence Murphy wrote: > >> sorry, wasn't at my desk when I answered and figured it was easy to find: >> >> go to Export/Other >> choose Tool: Xvid MPEG-4 AVI Single Pass (MEncoder) >> second Profile option: High Quality Full Size 2240 kb/s >> > > > When I export the file it doesn't save anything and there's no reference to > it in the folder I'm trying to save it in. > > > > >> don't ask me what any of it actually means ;) but you can also try other >> profiles to compare the output to see which suits your purpose better. >> >> On Fri, Feb 26, 2010 at 10:42 AM, <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> On 02/26/2010 10:39 AM, Gary Lawrence Murphy wrote: >> >> I use the second-best quality setting on the Export/Mencoder >> >> >> Second best?
