     It builds, installs, and runs, but it doesn't do anything interesting. 
Currently, it initializes GTK, connects to the default JACK output pair,
initializes the Mix and Oscillator plug-ins, and then exits - dumping
initialization/debug info along the way.  I had some things implemented in
the past, but I've switched languages (C++ -> C), GUI toolkits (GTK 1 -> 2),
and plug-in approaches (something far too complex to maintain -> shared
libraries), over the past few months, and it wasn't until recently that I
had any time to start properly re-implementing everything.

     If anyone on this list is interested in more info, I'd recommend
looking at the files in the docs/ directory of CVS.  I haven't cleaned up
these files in ages, so virtually everything is there - both the discarded
bad ideas, and the ones I've kept (although some ideas and design decisions
probably haven't been documented).  The best starting place would be
docs/jargon - which introduces some of the core philisophical ideas behind
Tinara.  At some point, I need to write a few paragraphs of proper
introductory text describing what Tinara is about, and detailing what makes
it fundamentally different from other audio editing/processing systems, but
I'd like to have an alpha release to show people first.

     I'd be very pleased to answer any further questions about Tinara, and
I'd love to discuss the technical details of the design with anyone who is
interested.  I should probably invite such messages to be sent off-list,
however, since I'm probably wandering off-topic ;)
