Pixar gave the Linux Movies Group a great presentation on RenderMan last
week!

Thanks to presenters Wayne Wooten and Julian Fong and the rest of the team
at Pixar!

We learned how its shader language is the heart of RenderMan, enables users
to customize the appearance of images and optimize performance. For THE
INCREDIBLES RenderMan produced 2k x 1k frames in 92 minutes each using 800MB
of RAM. Violet used 7.7 million lines of compiled shader code. Wayne and
Julian reviewed the basics before moving on to the technical nuances of
advanced RenderMan features. Beginning and advanced RenderMan users got to
learn something new.

Robin

P.S. THE INCREDIBLES releases to DVD on March 15th.
