Walt Disney Feature Animation has been combining the best in artistry
and storytelling with cutting-edge technology to bring wonderful new
characters and adventures to the big screen for audiences around the
world. We currently have a number of all CG productions underway.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Technical Support Engineer at
our Glendale, CA studio.

The Lead Technical Support Engineer is responsible for all day-to-day
Technical Support activities and staff, including front-line, systems
and rendering in support of CG Animation production in a Linux
environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:
*Oversee all activities, specific to on-site and remote end-user
production and administrative support
*Provide effective problem escalation, both internal to Feature
Animation, as well as to Corporate Support team, if and when warranted
*Provide effective problem prioritization, load-balancing technical
resources to deal with both short-term and long-term problems
*Oversee day-to-day shift schedules and the associative overtime
schedules associated with technical support personnel
*Provide training on tools, techniques, and processes for the team
*Provide clear direction and feedback to the team
*Responsible performance management, including personnel reviews and
merit process, and career growth for the team
*Ensure that appropriate staffing is in place, and that the staff is
utilized to the maximum potential

Liaison to Production:
*Create an effective partnership between technology and production
*Responsible for the technical support organizational structure (approx.
10 people) to be synchronized with production needs
*Establish regular, effective, ongoing dialogue with production
management, providing solutions and feedback in a timely manner
*Understand Production timelines and processes, and effectively
implement support paradigms to support those timelines and processes
*Work with other support teams to provide ongoing solution options to
production needs, communicating pros v. cons for each option considered
*Effectively facilitate the deployment of technology initiatives in
accordance with the needs of the shows

Liaison to Technology Management:
*Work in partnership with Technology managers and leads
*Effectively communicate requirements between team and management
*Establish effective lines of communication between technical management
and the front line team
*Support, influence and implement division-wide Feature Animation
technology initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:
*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
*Minimum 3 years of related Production Technology Support experience
(Animation production experience is a plus), preferably in a Linux
environment
*The ability to communicate intricate technical and procedural matters
to both technical and non-technical personnel
*Exceptional communication and people management skills are a must
*Previous support management or lead experience
