Thanks for pointing out the reference to the G5 cluster at Virginia Tech
and top500.org.

By the way, I just helped put together a renderfarm with a Client.  They
use G4's and G5 as workstations and Dual proc Athlon MP+'s as
rendernodes.  The render nodes net-boot off a Linux server for
rendering.   In there case this is what is most cost effective and best
meets their production requirements.
