Indeed I said I was going to change the | iframes, but the site just launched cause Christian wanted it to. Like I | said in the previous post, it actually isn't really ready for launch, | but it launched anyway. And that's in the past now. I am taking full responsibility for the whole mess. As a stupid IE user i didnt see any problems when browsing the site, so i thought its safe now to put it online. I am the one to blame. @mf : True, Steve is hard and direct in criticizing ( remember he is no native english speaker), but he also is very open about his work being criticized by other team members. I know he hurt your feelings and also your pride when telling you he would have done almost everything differently with the homepage ( and i love it ), but i am convinced he didnt mean to hurt you with that. Its only he is a perfectionist and therefore was telling you how he would like things to be different. I can assure you Steve is a good team worker, he can accept if things are decided different by the team than he would like them to have. I'd recommend you to do the same with him, means instead of reacting rude when he is questioning your work, do the same with his work ( you certainly have the knowledge to do so in mayn respects despite the coding itself ) and you will see how he reacts. Steve is a very good teamplayer, and i am convinced you can become one also if you learn to accept criticism better. @Steve : we are a small team and need any help we can get. Sometimes things will not be perfect or be subject to improvement, but the most important thing is that there is progress, and also constant progress. I support your constraints to improve MCF and everything around it. But please try to be more relaxed about issues that are not directly related to the technical aspects of MCF which is the most important thing right now, although i agree that the homepage is an important part of the projct also. About mf : He has an extraordinary knowledge about video encoding and the user scene, even better than yours. He is willingly to contribute hard to MCF, his work on the homepage is a good proof and only a start IMHO. Please try to find another way of giving input to his work, not everybody can maintain the same level of motivation to support a project as you do, if his work is being constantly questioned by other team members. @Foogod : Alex, you know how much i appreciate your contribution to MCF, via creating UCI or as direct input like with using CRC lately. I would even go so far to say that MCF's fate was questionary unless UCI was founded by you, although i am well aware Steve wouldnt agree here. As a matter of fact Steve's transor API was covering the same functionality as UCI in some respect, but it seems UCI has a much better chance to get widely accepted by codec developers, be it because its separated from MCF or because you were meeting the demands of codec developers better than Steve's transor API. I am not sure if we had managed to create transors for the most important codecs with the limited team we have, so UCI is certainly a much better alternative and very important for MCFs future. But, even if you dislike the way Steve is contributing to MCF right now, please dont you ever again tell him to shut up on one of MCF's mailing lists ! The whole project is on Steve's shoulder, and those of you who only joined the project recently, like mf and you, cant even estimate what he has done for MCF in the past 18 months !! I remember very well the days when Tronic was MCFs 'Captain' and he and Ingo, who gave excellent input to the format BTW, disagreed on almost every respect. It was Steve who managed to handle both personalities with enormous effort, diplomacy and contribution to the common goal. Without him MCF would not be as it is now, and without him we can put MCF into the ashtray. He doesnt deserve to be treated with disrespect, from nobody, however important he may be. I am also not happy that Steve cant invest more time into MCF as he did in the past, but this does not give allowance to anybody to question his motivation to make MCF the best open A/V container there is. @all : I am asking you to stop bashing immediately now. We will resolve all remaining issues with the website now asap, it was my decision to put it online as is, so i am the one to blame. Please dont allow that this incident weakens the team and thus the project. Or, after all, Tobias Waldvogels decision to keep OGM closed source and develop it completely on his own would be superior to a real open project. I cant believe this could be true.
