As you now know we might use the name "Matroska" (russian doll) to refer
to MCF in phrases, ie not technical papers. It will be an easier name to
remember (than an acronym that looks like MFC) and it also express the
EBML orientation of the format.

From a marketing point of view (yes, you read correctly), I think it
has a good graphic potential. It is also interresting to have something
russian, that we could use the UTF-8 name too. (if you have any russian
name it would be nice to have the UTF-8 code and maybe some background
on the word)

There are other related stuff like a hidden opposition to raw capitalism
(yes, history is till playing a role in this world). And the russians
are known for have a lot of pirated material. MCF could be an option for
them. But none of this could be used for marketing...

The point of this email is to ask wether you agree on this name and its
variations (russian has more variations for some latin letters, so can
be written in a latin language in different ways).

If most people agree we would have to register as quick as possible all
variations of the words in .org (all .com seem to be taken). As a DNS
reference it would be nice to have the same one as CoreCodec. Maybe
Cyt0plas could help us and tell us the good ones. I'm ready to pay for a
few of these registrations if necessary.
