Hi abilash,

i am pleased and honoured by your personal interest in joining our team. MCF
is a challenging project and we can really use every help we can get, so we
would be more than happy to count you to our development team. May i ask you
to give me a quick idea about your background in video and audio encoding ?
Are tools like Virtualdub, transcode, mencoder, TMPEGencoder and codecs like
DivX, XviD, MPEG4V3, Realvideo and ON2 VP4 known to you ? Did you ever hear
about the Ogg Vorbis project ( http://www.xiph.org ) or Gstreamer, the
upcoming multimedia framework for Linux ( http://www.gstreamer.net ) ?

Also : Why did specifically our project catch your interest ?

To be able to contribute to the project i would ask you to

- register a user account on sourceforge.net, if you dont have one already,
and pass me the nickname you have chosen for you ( i guess it will be
'abilash' ? )

- subscribe to our mailing lists on
https://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=47402 , and also to the VirtualdubMod
lists on https://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=65889 and UCI-devel on
http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=62840 . All these lists together will
generate a total number of about 100 emails / week, but its essential to do
so to be able to follow the technical conversation. Another possibility to
access the lists ( even old mails ) is using a newsreader and the server
news.gmane.org ( http://news.gmane.org ) , groups gmane.comp.video.mcf.xyz
and gmane.comp.video.vdubmod.xyz and gmane.comp.video.uci.devel .

- Browse the mailing list archives on
http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.comp.video.mcf.devel ;
http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.comp.video.mcf.general ; etc. :
http://news.gmane.org/?match=gmane.comp.video to learn more about the actual
status of the project, and also to get an impression how development of the
format is normally done.

- Get an idea of the to-do list we still have by reading here :
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37591 and here
http://virtualdub.everwicked.com/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=822&s=ee7d18dbf56110
de7f19873232cf0b09 . Both webboards are very important for MCF
development, so if you find the time its worthwhile reading them . There is
a task list on the sourceforge project page here :
https://sourceforge.net/pm/?group_id=47402 , its also very interesting to
see what has to be done still.

Please answer my questions above and let me know what your first impression
of the project is.

I am sure we had some good and interesting tasks in our project you could
start with, and as stated above, we really need every piece of help we can
get to create the next generations open standard of video and audio.

Best regards

Christian
