Gentlemen,

i have been working hard behind the scenes to find a solution for us
concerning the webboard. From the 3 options we had most from you clearly
voted for #2, means we should try to use the brand new corecodec forums if
this one is ready to go.

Well, today Dan ( Betaboy ) and Ludovic ( BlackSun ) made a decision here,
and i am happy to announce we will go for that !

Dan had a message for the MCF team and me in a private section on powerdivx
and i am allowed now to paste it here :

Please guys, can you clarify the following questions and come back to
me on this :

      - Will there be an offer to be hosted on your site to MCF team and can
you estimate what the scope of this offer could be like ? Please note there
has to be some advantages compared to sf.net or the guys will stay where
they are ( you would do the same i guess ).

YES... Guaranteed. I would like to make MCF a MAJOR part of CoreCodec.com
and it's development a priority. As to the scope of the offer... I guess I
would need to know exactly what their needs are. We can then take it from
there.

      - Do you have any chance to allow us and everybody we invite to this
discussion to use the corecodec.com forums right now about MCF specs, or
should we use ew.com as interims solution ?

I can do this in two phases....

1ST phase would be to initially create the forum topics as needed by the MCF
team and setup some general project pages with the specs and any other
documents that are needed.

2nd phase would take a little longer as Cyt0plas sets up the SF integration
into PN/PHPBB.

The issue with Phase 2 is we have been waiting for Theos and the FSF on an
answer for our hosting... as we wanted to send them a server that Cyt0plas
can setup the way he would like and manage.

We have talked to Theos and are trying to work out a solution shortly as
they are offering the 'savannah' interface which will not work for us with
PostNuke/PHPBB.

      - What is the best way ( if ever possible ) to import all the old
threads from powerdivx.com board into coreocodec.com board, even without
importing the users also ?

The best way would be to import as an archive. I will talk to a few PHPBB
devs that I was working with on the DivX.com forums and see if they can help
us with this.

BTW.... I see this as a win/win for both the MCF Devels and CoreCodec and
think that it is a perfect opportunity to get them the needed suppoirt and
develipment help that they need.

[/b]MCF has my full support and I will do what ever is need to get the
project on CoreCodec.com [/b]

What you can read ( more or less, some points added by me ) from this is :

- Corecodec will cooperate with the FSF ( Free Software Foundation ) in
Germany !! This is top secret for the time being, so please keep it for
yourself !!

- Corecodec will get a sourceforge interface called 'savannah' to the
postnuke core of the site, so it will be able to offer all functionalities
as sf.net does, plus a few more

- The whole site will be running on a dedicated server, to be installed at
and be maintained by the FSF in Germany

- Corecodec will try to form the communication link between the developers
and the users of opensource video and audio projects, by hosting them all on
one site. It ment to be a all-in-one solution to give developers a good and
workable surrounding including all necessary tools and communication methods
you need to create, run and advertise such a project

- The site will be built mainly around the well-known Mediaplayer and as
such attract 1000s of users to it, raising public interest in all projects
that are hosted on it, and also attracting other developers to participate
in the project

My recommendation to you guys is clear :

Accept Dan's offer to be hosted on corecodec ! Dan strongly believes in MCF
( while Blacksun favours OGM ... lol ) and its future meaning for the
audio/video community, and this man is known to turn all things he touches
into Gold ... ;-) !

We can use the new corecodec discussion board from friday on, and we can
also invite everybody to participate in the discussion, even before
corecodec.com is really up and working. Launch of the site is now sheduled
for September, at least to my knowledge.

Lemme know what you think

Regards

Christian
