5-10 year old Radeon GPUs (like HD 2600 or HD 6970M) -- are there any improvements in the works?

Hello,

I totally understand that the development efforts are mainly focused on
supporting newer Radeon GPUs (with really great results, BTW:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=rx470-412-172dev&num=1),
but I do wonder whether we can expect some performance improvements for
older Radeon cards too?

Last time I checked Ubuntu 17.04 on my early 2008 iMac (Radeon HD 2600), it
was not a complete disaster, but 60FPS web videos weren't smooth and I
wasn't able to play Xonotic even on lowest settings...

Keep up good work!
