I updated to Mesa 19.1.7, but the issue is still present.

One note in the update that interested me was "i|ntel/dri: finish proper glthread" 
because I rememebered I had set a .drirc in testing 30-bit output. This drirc 
enabled gl threading. Removing the .drirc file to disable gl threading stops the 
crash I'm seeing.
