About EGL vs GLX on Xorg

Hi,

I have a couple of questions about GLX vs EGL on Xorg, I hope the questions
make sense, and would appreciate any reply.

1) Is there any scenario where EGL will not work on Xorg and GLX will,
considering old versions of Xorg, dating 10 years back ?

2) Is it true to say that EGL is preferred on Xorg rather than GLX? What
would be the benefits?
