Your guess that more was needed was 100% correct I contacted the author&maintainer of mpeg2enc and mplex and he has checked in a) A fix for the rate controller's doing some stuff in InitSeq needed in Init. b) Some minor compiler warning fixes I'd done but forgotten check in ages ago. c) A fix for the delete-ing instead of delete [] -ing of arrays. d) Fixes for the valgrind detected uninit data usage in the pass-1 on-the-fly rate controller. And commented that "...still need to fix the valgrind detected init problems in pass-2 of the on-the-fly rate controller ..." So doing a 'cvs update' now will show a *lot* of files have changed in mpeg2enc and mplex.
