	And developers know how to edit automake and autoconf files to
	build stripped down software.  If they don't then they're not
	developers in the usual meaning of the word ;)

	On the other hand why can't these so called "developers" find a 
	sdl.m4 file and pollute their local system rather than the 
	distribution tarball? :)
