yuv4mpeg API versus YUV444

Hi mjpeg devs,

I notice the current version of the yuv4mpeg api within mjpegtools is
hardwired to only handle yuv420x streams.

Is there any possibility of this being upgraded in the future?

Are there any patches or repositories with a yuv4mpeg api that can do
all the different yuv formats?

Also - is there an mjpegtools repository anywhere? The sourceforge cvs
repo linked from the mjpegtools website seems to have gone away.
