Stange that the RC2 does not work. Never heared of that problem before. 
Have you tried the RC2 from SF ?

Both cards work, I have only used the S-Video input. Recording is no 
problem. I found a message in the kernel that lookes like something 
should be fixed in the kernel driver:

Video overlay and recording of on card works. I can send you the ouput 
of demsg if you are interrested.

Maybe you need to specify the physical device, for the i2c driver ?
