I haven't gotten any useful help on my ffmpeg analog-encoding problem yet.  You've seen the parameters I tried to use, which I gathered semi-randomly from scattered sources around the Net...any suggestions on what I should do differently?

That's just it -- it's already severely undershooting the desired bitrate, and although it's consistently reporting q values of 1 or less, the results are still blocky.  I'm at a loss for what to do next.

Except for the artifacts (which should be fixable), mpeg2enc does everything I want it to, so if Andrew Stevens really can spare some time, it looks like that's the most effective solution to my analog-encoding problems.
