AVI, padding

Hello,

i hope my question is not off topic here.

I wrote a python script to read an AVI and interpret its content. The AVI
contains JPEG images and i can extract them. But the AVI also contains pading
0x00 and i'm not sure about the number of padding bytes that is used.
For decoding this is not that important but i'd also like to create an AVI and
i think for this i may need to keep the correct number of padding 0x00.

Can anybody give me a hint on how the padding in AVI works?

I wonder about things like:
- how many padding bytes do i need to add when creating an AVI?
- when extracting sound streams, how many padding bytes do i need to skip?

Best regards,
Torsten.
