Thanks for testing. I haven't seen a X-less Linux machine for a very 
long time.

You can still get the bounty for a 3 year open bug.

There is another Gentoo bug that led me to the problem, in combination 
with the entry in the bug tracker and some spare time here, I can try to 
fix the problem. And succeed from time to time.
