[MPEGIF News] 12th NAT Congress & Convention / NATEXPO 2008

Dear MPEGIF News Readers - Please find attached and below a press release
made by the National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters of Russia in
respect of the upcoming 12th International NAT Congress and Convention
(18-20 November 2008), which takes place in parallel with NATEXPO 2008
(18-21 November 2008), a major broadcasting and new media exhibition. Venue
is the Crocus Exhibition Centre in Moscow. I have also taken the liberty of
attaching a more detailed conference overview.

 

MPEGIF is supporting this event and I thought that this information would be
of interest to you, bearing in mind the importance of the Russian TV and
media landscape -- especially considering the transition to digital TV. 

 

In this context, it will be very interesting to see the anticipated
establishment of the Digital Alliance of Russia, which, as an independent
and platform neutral organisation, will facilitate the constructive
consolidation of all market participants in the TV and Radio Broadcasting
industry assisting an effective, timely as well as productive transition to
digital services in Russia.

 

As you can see from the press release, MPEGIF will be present through the
participation of David Price, Vice President Harmonic and Vice President,
and myself as speakers. David Gillies, Director of Technology at our MPEGIF
member company Pace (who are exhibiting) will also be speaking.

PREMIER BROADCASTING EXHIBITITION AND CONFERENCE

 

NATEXPO 2008 to set new trends in Russia's broadcast and new media industry

 

Moscow / Russia, 29 October 2008 - The National Association of TV and Radio
Broadcasters of Russia (NAT), is pleased to announce its 12th International
Congress and Convention to take place in Moscow (18 and 20 November 2008,
Exhibition Center Crocus Expo) under the title "Russia at the Step of a
Digital Revolution".

 

This exceptional conference, supported by the Federal Agency for Press and
Mass Communications (http://www.fapmc.ru/), will provide a detailed analysis
of international experience alongside interactive discussions covering all
aspects of next generation broadcasting and Television including content
creation, distribution and consumption as well as financial and economical
trends in models. It will start with the NAT Convention, which will be open
to the public for the very first time.

 

Participants and speakers will include members of the Governmental
Commission on development of TV and Radio broadcasting, senior executives
from leading broadcasting companies as well as from telecommunication,
satellite, cable, mobile TV operators and service providers, equipment
manufacturers and integrators. International speakers include Sebastian

The 12th International NAT Congress and Convention will take place in
