Please take a moment to learn more about this weeks featured MPEGIF members.
Each member of the MPEG Industry Forum is dedicated to the same mission: "To
further the adoption of MPEG Standards, by establishing them as well
accepted and widely used standards among creators of content, developers,
manufacturers, providers of services, and end users". We hope you find this
spotlight to be informative and interesting.

ETRI

Established in 1976, ETRI is a non-profit government-funded research
organization that has been at the forefront of technological excellence for
more than 25 years. Our research institute has successfully developed
information technologies such as TDX-Exchange, High Density Semiconductor
Microchips, Mini-Super Computer (TiCOM), and Digital Mobile
Telecommunication System (CDMA). As a recognized leader in the information
and telecommunication research institute in Korea, we will strive to be the
best in the fields of information and telecommunications.
In the 21st century, by combining knowledge and information with computer
and telecommunication, we will open the door to the future multimedia and
telecommunication age.

Euclid Discoveries

Euclid Discoveries ("the company") is a privately held software development
firm based in Concord, MA. The company was founded in 1999, and over the
past seven years has focused on developing a new way to process and compress
video images. Euclid brought together mathematical approaches from several
fields to create a technology that analyzes patterns and objects within
video. This technology, called EuclidVisionT, has achieved compression
ratios of 15,168 to 1. EuclidVision greatly exceeds the state of the art,
with a 460% improvement over MPEG-4 for certain videos, with no drop off in
quality. This technology will ultimately let users watch high-definition,
full-length movies on the same cell phones and PDAs they use right now.
Euclid Discoveries has also developed a rigorous testing environment,
EuclidStudioT, to evaluate video compression and quality for MPEG-4 and
other compression technologies. EuclidStudio allows the company to
demonstrate the compression capabilities of the software - showing a "before
and after" in terms of size - while simultaneously letting users go
frame-by-frame to see that picture quality remains excellent.
