Use previouse version of gcc. It's not only your/my experience with 
gcc-4.3.0 (in fact e.g. liba52 failed the same way for me as mp3lib). 
I've switched back to gcc 4.2.1 (in my case). And it works.
See thread "[MPlayer-cygwin] [PATCH] mingw resource inclusion fix" it's 
a bit discused there.
