Among open source projects, git is popular. ------ Personal opinion on related subjects: I do have my own custom gnu/linux distro: I don't even try to build svn BECAUSE IS A CLUSTER-F*CK CORPORATE GRADE (sorry for the caps, it had to get out somehow :P ). Additionally, I have been fooling around with vulkan: I am even writing a spirv assembler in order to avoid that pile of degenerated c++ cr*p, llvm grade, which is the khronos glsl->spirv converter.
