maybe.
i remembered i already wrote it for sth, but maybe i mix sth.

yes you're right, it's impl. only for string_list, as earlier it was used
for module lists, then i realized a new type MODULE_LIST is better for UIs.

anyway the min/max thing should be checked for all formats, where it
has some sence, be it actual value or number of list elements.
