Hi, > btw, IMHO dual licensing will mean mplayer G2s death, ppl simply wont > contribute anymore, or would u contribute to a project for which someone else > gets alot of money? It depends. I would, if - it's only a small contribution (few-liner fix etc) - it's a feature i need, and i want it to be in the cvs - i know that the money they (the developers, not "someone else") receive is all spent on the development (buying server hardware/hosting, hardware for developers, documents (ieee/iso standards, chip specs...) etc) don't worry, it won't be spent on malaysian bitches for gabucino :) Anyway contributions to core is very rare, and even then it's either a big cosmetics mess or something broken code :) Most contributions are plugins/modules, ie. new codecs, demuxers, vo drivers, filters, and they may be single-licensed too. (ie license buyers are not allowed to use them in closed code) Although i vote for dual-licensing as much as possible.
