This happened to me today, > and mplayer was very slow until I reinstalled my Nvidia drivers. > > If the gl driver doesn't work, try others like "xv", "sdl", and "xvidix". > Use "mplayer -vo help" to see a list of posibilities. sorry to say it, but mplayer is fundamentally flawed when playing non-file streams. -demuxer lavf -lavfdopts probesize=128 somehow makes mplayer behave better, but in my experience it just delays the problem in the future
