Hi Bill, Thanks for taking the time to write that very thorough response. I tried yo= ur suggestions and I'm still having issues. I compiled liba52 and recompile= d mplayer. I also noticed that I was missing my /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf fi= le, so I copied it from the source. = Here are some of the commands I ran and their output. = No Sound: root@slackware:~# DISPLAY=3D:0 /usr/bin/mplayer -fs -vo vdpau -vc ffmpeg12v= dpau -ao alsa:device=3Dhdmi -afm ffmpeg -ac -hwac3 dvb://WGAL-DT MPlayer SVN-r34447-snapshot-4.5.2 (C) 2000-2011 MPlayer Team 182 audio & 386 video codecs Playing dvb://WGAL-DT. dvb_tune Freq: 423000000 TS file format detected.
